Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using EZ508 (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Notice. If you are using the Service on behalf of an employer, agency or client, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms on their behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the service does
EZ508 performs automated accessibility remediation on documents you upload. It applies structural tagging, alt text, table headers, reading order, language and contrast corrections intended to help a document meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, WCAG 2.1 Level AA and PDF/UA-1, and it produces a report describing what it changed and what it found.
The Service is offered free of charge and is provided on a best-effort basis.
3. Disclaimer & no warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
In particular, and without limiting the above:
- No guarantee of compliance. Automated remediation cannot guarantee that a document conforms to Section 508, WCAG 2.1, PDF/UA-1, or any other standard, regulation or contractual requirement. Reports, scores and check results produced by the Service are informational only and are not a certification, attestation or audit.
- Human review is required. Generated alt text, heading levels, table headers and reading order reflect automated inference and may be wrong or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on, publishing or certifying it.
- Not legal advice. Nothing in the Service or its documentation is legal advice about your accessibility obligations.
- Documents may be altered. Remediation modifies document structure and content. Keep your own copy of every original. The Service is not a backup or archival system.
4. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address and confirm it before your account becomes active.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Accounts are for individual use. Do not share credentials.
- If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately from the Account page, and delete any jobs you no longer want stored.
The Service is operated as an automated, unattended tool. It does not provide individual user support, and no support or contact mailbox is published. Email is sent only to confirm an address at signup and to deliver password-reset links; those messages come from an unmonitored no-reply address and replies to them are not read.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload classified, export-controlled, or otherwise legally restricted material, or personal data you are not authorised to process on third-party infrastructure;
- upload content you do not have the right to process, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- upload malware, or files crafted to attack, probe or disrupt the Service or its users;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' documents, or the systems it runs on;
- use automated means to submit work at a volume that degrades the Service for others, or resell access to the Service;
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law.
6. Your documents
You keep all rights in the documents you upload. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service: to store, process, convert and analyse your files so we can return remediated output and a report to you.
We do not sell your documents, use them for advertising, or use their contents to train machine-learning models for third parties. Documents whose automated checks fail or produce poor results may be retained and used to improve this Service's own remediation models, as described in the Privacy Notice. Documents are accessible only to your own account and to the administrators of this installation, who may access them where necessary to operate, secure or troubleshoot the Service.
7. Retention and deletion
The Service is not storage. By default your uploaded file and its outputs are deleted from the server as soon as you download them; they are also deleted when you sign out, after a short period of inactivity, and in any case approximately 24 hours after processing. You may untick the delete-after-download option to keep a job's files available for the rest of your session, and you may delete any job yourself at any time. Keep your own copies of everything you need.
Deleting a job removes its uploaded file and outputs, except that copies retained for quality improvement (see section 6) persist until reviewed. Server logs containing operational metadata (timestamps, account name, IP address) may persist for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
8. Availability
We do not promise any level of availability, throughput or processing time. The Service may be unavailable for maintenance, may change, and may be discontinued at any time without notice. Features may be added, modified or removed.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EZ508, its operators and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, documents, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — including any claim that a document processed by the Service failed to meet an accessibility requirement — whether based in contract, tort, negligence or any other theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless EZ508 and its operators from claims arising out of your use of the Service or your breach of these terms.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the least amount permitted by law.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that places an unreasonable load on the Service, or where we reasonably believe suspension is necessary to protect the Service or its users. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version. Material changes will be shown in the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
12. No support channel
EZ508 is an automated self-service tool provided free of charge. There is no support desk, help line or contact mailbox, and none is implied by these terms. If the Service does not meet your needs, stop using it.
Everything the Service will tell you is on this page, in the Privacy Notice, and in the compliance report produced with each job.
